Story

As most of you know, I love to run - which means I love to talk about running with anybody who will listen. Which is exactly what I was doing with my friend Doron a couple of months ago when we got chatting after a long time between drinks.

Thing is, hearing Doron talk about his running is a lot more compelling than average. That's because he's got glioblastoma 4 - which is an aggressive form of brain cancer. He runs because he enjoys it, and to keep up a healthy lifestyle, but also to raise money for cancer-related causes, and, importantly, to raise awareness for glioblastoma.

When he was talking about why he runs, and why he wants to raise awareness about glioblastoma, one thing he said has stuck with me. He said nobody knows about glioblastoma, because most people who have it don't survive long enough to talk about it.

So I want to talk about it. And, given I'm planning on lacing up my runners for the Seville Marathon in February 2026, I also want to run for it.

One of the organisations that has really helped Doron throughout the last couple of years since his diagnosis has been the Peace of Mind Foundation. Peace of Mind offers a range of support services to people with cancer and to their families. Doron has attended retreats for people with cancer, and made important connections with people who know what it's like to be in his shoes.

Doron told me most of the people he talks to these days are from the cancer community. Speaking personally, connections are what keeps me going. And Peace of Mind is making those connections possible for people living with cancer.

So - while I run my marathon, I'll be thinking of Doron and others who have glioblastoma and other brain cancers. And as I learn more about it, and what we can do to support people living with cancer and scientists looking for a cure, I'll share it with you along the way.

Any donations to Peace of Mind, no matter how small, will be hugely appreciated and go a long way in supporting others like Doron as they navigate the challenges of cancer. And if you can't spare cash, don't worry. Maybe have a read about how you can support people living with cancer, or other diseases, or how you can support organisations and individuals who are trying to find a cure.

Doron is an inspiring guy who is using his voice and his running to raise awareness for glioblastoma. I am hoping that by raising some cash for Peace of Mind and talking about it with you all, we can all support his mission together.
