Vee's marathon brain cancer journey

I have created this fundraising page in support of the Peace Of Mind Foundation.

Peace of Mind was created to give support, courage and community to brain cancer patients, their carers, family and loved ones.

On the 28th July 2020 our world was turned upside down when my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He underwent surgery to remove 40% of the tumour on the 6th August. The beast turned out to be a grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. Our worlds absolutely shattered upon hearing the cancer diagnosis. He underwent 33 days of radiation and then oral chemo to try and kill the tumour and shrink what was remaining.

After a routine MRI it was found that the beast had decided to take off and grow again. So a 2nd surgery was performed exactly 6 months from the 1st on the 6th April 2021. This time it had progressed to GMB4. As you can understand our world was shattered. But Vee has never let this stop him from living his life to the most. Even through all the chemo, radiation, seizures and side effects, he has lived his life to the fullest.

Unfortunately the beast has decided to take of again but in an inoperable position. These means that he will have to undergo 2 different chemos to try and shrink it.

Without the support of Peace of Mind Foundation, our journey ahead would be a long and confusing road to travel. This is why I am going to be doing 4 marathons this year to raise money. My first will be Hobart Marathon 6th April, followed by Brisbane Marathon 1st June, Cairns Marathon 13th July and Sunshine Coast Marathon 3rd August. To finish off the fundraising I will be doing a head shave on the 6th August...the 5 year anniversary of his first craniotomy.
